| Background |
|
|
Paul lives in Vancouver, BC and has over fifteen years experience as a user interaction designer and usability specialist/educator. He has designed productive and usable interfaces for desktop, mobile and web-based applications, websites, intranets and courseware. Companies that have benefited from his services include Absolute Software, FinancialCAD Corporation, SAP BusinessObjects, The Canadian Real Estate Association and Vancity Credit Union.

As an academic and corporate instructor, Paul has designed and taught various courses in interface design at Simon Fraser University (SFU), the Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design, and the University of British Columbia. At SFU, he has been nominated for an Excellence in Teaching Award, and in a recent offering of Paul's popular 3rd year CMPT-363 (User Interface Design) course, 93% of class students rated his teaching ability as an "A".

Paul was selected to participate in the 2009 Season of Usability (OpenUsability.org) project as a usability mentor for a Human Computer Interaction Graduate student working on an open source Linux KDE semantic note-taking application. He was also chosen as a project design mentor for SFU's School of Interactive Arts and Technology school, where he provided interaction design/user-centered design (UCD) mentoring for a group of five students enrolled in a two-semester length 4th year Interdisciplinary Design Studio course involving the design of an iPhone fitness application.
