Overview
For over 25 years, Laplink Software has been a global leader in PC connectivity with more than 15 million customers worldwide. ShareDirect, a product developed by LapLink, is a peer-to-peer file-sharing and collaboration application that emphasizes secure sharing and ease of use.
Goal
To create the easiest file-sharing application on the market.
Paul's Role
Paul was asked to help enhance the user interface for the application, while maintaining the needed release schedule of the application.
Challenges
Entering the project late in the design process, Paul needed to work quickly without compromising usability expectations.
Approach
This project required a number of techniques to be applied quickly and precisely, including Conceptual Design, Task Analysis, Comparative Analysis, Visual Layout, Interface Prototyping, and Usability Testing.
Results
By re-engineering key interaction elements in the existing interface, Paul’s work dramatically improved the usability of the end product.
